How to Be a Better Reader

... When you begin reading, look at the pictures - They tell the story.

... If your book has no pictures, look at the chapter titles, the headings, and words in BOLD. They also tell the story.

... Remember what you read. Write down the key words or a short summary for each chapter. This will help you to remember longer.

... If you are good at phonics, sound out the words you don't know.

... If you are not good at phonics, make flash cards of new words and use them as you read to remember the new words you will see in the story.

... Predict what will come next. Each book has a story line that can be followed if you are careful.
